PREPARE FOR WINTER, OR DIE IN IT.
You start with nothing on a temperate continent. Work stone into copper, build a house that holds its heat, and farm, forage, hunt and fish through a year of twenty-minute days and eight-day seasons.

Cold, hunger, thirst, rain and darkness do more damage than any animal. Winter is a scheduled event you can see coming, and being unprepared is a decision you made in autumn.

Leave the bed with a plan. Knap a blade, gather fibre, put seed in the ground while the soil warms.

Long days for long work. Raise walls, fire the kiln, push one chain a step further before the light turns.

Autumn is a countdown. Dry, smoke and store what you can, and close every gap the wind will find.

The test. Live on what you put by, keep the fire fed, and the first year ends when you see spring again.
Health, satiety, water, warmth and stamina, counted in segments rather than guessed at. When one falls, the game says why, so the cold is never a mystery: it is wet clothes, rain, dusk and no fire, and every one of those you can fix.

No important tool is one step. Short chains with character, two to five steps through stations you built, so every tool in your hands has a history. Knap flint, twist cordage, fire a kiln, burn charcoal, then smelt your first copper.
Any block can be dug and any house built. Rooms hold heat, materials insulate and gaps leak, so the walls you raise in summer are the warmth you keep in winter.
Caves and moonless nights are near black. A torch matters, a lantern matters more, and staying out after dusk is a gamble you choose to take.

Weather comes from the climate, not a dice roll. A forecast warns you what tomorrow brings. Storms throw lightning that sets dry grass alight, fog swallows the morning, and snow lies where it falls until a thaw takes it.

Continents without end, each with its own rock and climate. Plains and temperate woods, taiga and tundra, alpine heights, red canyons and mesas, swamps, jungle, and redwood groves on the coast, with rare places worth the trip.

Damp winding caves that join the caverns under hills and the river caves. Clay beds, flint, coal and copper.
Big halls and flooded halls you need a route through. Tin, iron and silver.
Hot rock and lava pools that light their own chambers. The richest veins, and gold.
Every world runs its own server inside it, even when you play alone, so a friend can come in from Steam whenever your world lets them. Each world decides who may join and what death costs.
Put Wildborne on your Steam wishlist and we will tell you the day the first year opens.
